gaw consulting interim management was set up in 2001 by Gaby Weidlich after realising that there didn't seem to be anybody specialising in Interim Management to carry out strategy reviews that consider and connect both aspects, namely the business strategy and corporate brand strategy. After all, connecting this was considered important to Boards, yet it seemed impossible to find an Interim Executive who could facilitate and implement this strategy development process, and, at the same time, take the employees on the journey to really embrace and embed the necessary changes. Once the change process has been embedded in the organisation, the Interim Executive moves on to the next assignment as they are no longer needed. And we wanted to fill this gap in the market. We also provide non-executive directors and so provide regular input into the strategic development of an organisation.
Connecting businesses with their corporate strategic brand (and product brands) in combination with a well-defined corporate philosophy brings benefits to so many areas; for instance, in acquisitions & mergers, private equity, repositioning or restructuring projects, turnarounds, regular business strategy reviews, consolidation projects, divestment projects, small businesses growing and having to change or start-ups and many more. Particularly in turbulent times that markets have experienced in the last couple of years or so; nothing can stay the way it was... It is not always necessary to keep on senior managers who facilitate this review and change, so Interim Managers are a very good solution as they move on once this critical stage is over.
Gaby has a number of specialists in her network but every project is managed and delivered by Gaby herself, so nothing gets lost in translation and total accountability is clear and defined. Gaby also works as part of a team with some brand consultancies in the bidding, development or delivery stages of a project.
I ask a million questions, some easy but many difficult ones and I am relentless to find answers that have often been left uncovered. I love challenges and am passionate to find better solutions for my clients, building on what is already there. Effective facilitation and good listening skills help me unlock further value and potential in businesses, working as part of my clients' teams.
Combining my passion and relentlessness with in-depth business and brand strategic thinking, knowledge and global cross-sector experience to engage all stakeholders concerned is fundamental and builds strategic foundations so clients can take the vision and changes forward long after I have left the project. I have helped many businesses and brands reposition themselves to achieve their strategic growth ambitions and to ensure they build and retain their competitively differentiated position in their chosen market place. Each project is new and different, many share similar principles and getting to grips with the issues fast is key critical. That, and engaging people of all levels in the process to make change happen and feel good is so important.
I have worked as a strategic business developer on a project-managing Interim Executive basis in the area of business & brand strategy and its implementation for over 10 years and prior to that ran global marketing and brand teams for a variety of global companies for over 15 years. I have worked and lived in Germany and London, and worked in over 30 countries across the globe and so am very aware of different market dynamics and cultures.
My experience spans FMCG, Retail, Financial Services, Public Sector, Brand Consultancy, Communications, Energy & Oil, Logistics, Business Services, Engineering, Furnishings, Programme & Project Management and many more across B2C, B2B, B2E and B2G.
